Wine vs Coaching

It's Friday night, the end of another stressful week at work. You come home, kick off your shoes, and open a bottle of wine. You deserve it. It helps you relax, takes away the stress, and numbs the weight of the week. Maybe you’ll wake up with a hangover, maybe not. Either way, on Monday, you’ll put on your brave face and head back to work. The same stresses will greet you, the same boss, and the same cycle will play out. You might even pour a glass of wine on Monday, just to take the edge off.

But one day, something inside you will whisper that it’s time for a change. You might even entertain the idea of hiring a coach. It sounds absurd at first—how could a stranger asking questions change your life? But then you remember your friend swears by it. She says things can be different. So, you think, What the heck, why not?

You meet with a coach. She asks a lot of questions—some are uncomfortable. She makes you feel things you'd rather not feel and invites you to do exercises that seem weird at first. Sometimes, she even makes you cry (damn her!). But you keep showing up and doing the work.

One day, something shifts. You find yourself telling your boss, “No, I can’t take on any additional projects right now.” Your boss raises an eyebrow but backs off. For the first time in a long time, you feel empowered, confident, and inspired to speak your truth.

Before you know it, the cycle starts to change. One Friday, instead of stopping for wine on your way home, you find yourself drawn to creative projects that light you up. Life starts to feel… different.

Here’s the thing: If wine (or sugar, or shopping, or whatever your go-to comfort is) works for you, that's okay. No judgment here! But when you’re ready—really ready—know that things can be different.

Life will always throw stress and challenges our way—that’s just life doing its job. But here’s a thought to consider:What if life’s challenges are actually invitations? Invitations to grow, play, and stretch our imaginations? What if they’re meant to help us create new solutions, expand our consciousness, and live more boldly—not just scramble for coping mechanisms?

P.S. Would you like a FREE coaching session? This isn’t a sales call. You’ll experience a full coaching session—no strings attached. There’s just one catch: the session must happen before February 7th, and it needs to be recorded. I’m using a few of these sessions as part of my application for my next level of training. If you’re interested, send me an email at nkcoaching@protonmail.com !
