Why Are You Here?

I’ve been thinking about my life purpose my whole life. Do you ever think about it?

I don’t have many memories from my early childhood, but this one is bright and vivid. I was 4, it was a cold and crispy winter night, I was walking home. The sky was clear and the stars were shimmering brightly in the wintery sky. I don’t think there was a moon or any street lights, but there was lots of snow on the ground so we could see our way lit up by millions of little lights in the sky. I think I was holding my aunt’s hand and I was walking with my eyes pointed upwards, mesmerized and trying to absorb the vastness and the beauty of it all. I also remember wondering—why are we all here? It can’t be just for the hustle, for the inevitable cycle of birth, school, work, kids, retirement, death; the cycle repeating itself again and again. For some reason I needed to see some meaning to all that.

I was asking adults about it but nobody could explain to me “why?”. I remember I was 15 or so, asking my geography teacher at school in the middle of class: “Why are we here? What is the purpose of life?” And he said, “Stop worrying about it, just go live your life.”

So, I stopped asking the outside world but the question never left my mind. It is in my makeup, I can’t just let it go. I needed to know WHY. About everything—I like asking why. I drive people around me crazy with just asking this simple three-letter word.

Anyways, I felt lost, I didn’t have the answers and I kept thinking about it. Fast forward to my twenties, I realized that they didn’t tell me because they could not tell me! It was MY JOB to define my purpose! It was a big relief to realize that. So, I did. I decided that the purpose of my life was to experience everything that life has to offer. That felt good so I started to mostly intentionally choose what I wanted to experience. Of course, there’s been lots of things that came uninvited—life has this annoying habit of throwing curveballs at us, doesn’t it?

Some time later I kind of received an image that the purpose of my life is to be a conductor, a bridge for the light connecting the Cosmos and the Earth. At the time I thought that it was probably the purpose of all of us. Now I think it might not be the case. But nonetheless, it’s true for many.

In more recent years the next layer came in. The purpose of life is to experience life as myself. “Myself” is an important addition. When I think about whether I want someone else’s life, I seem to land on the “no, I don’t.” I don’t want to be anyone else (though I am curious what would it be like to taste Paul McCartney’s life. It must have been such an adventure!).

And here’s where I am now:
You’ve already decided on your purpose.
You made that decision before you even got here.
Now… you just need to remember it.

So in a way, I was right to ask the outside world.
Because some part of me already knew—it existed.
I wasn’t searching for something to make up;
I was searching for something to recall.

But I know this much—you came here to experience life as you.

To put it into more esoteric words—you came here to master a specific vibration.

This is why authenticity matters. You are not here to be someone else, you are here to be YOU.

So, if you think your purpose in Penny from Big Bang Theory words is “to stay skinny and not be broke,” I think there’s more to it. Your soul doesn’t care how much money you make. But it does care how you vibrate while making and spending the money. Do you see the difference?

There’s more. Separation is an illusion. Check out any book on physics—we are all made of energy and we don’t really know for sure how this illusion of separation occurs… I suspect it has a lot to do with our brain.

Anyway, the purpose of life is to find Wholeness, experience life from the place of your authenticity, and this is your contribution to the Whole. We are all one—each one of us is equally important because without you the Whole won’t be Whole anymore.

The good news is that you have everything you need to find the details of your own mission on Earth. You came here with navigation equipment—you just need to remember to use it.

Here’s one of the ways that might help you.

Ask yourself these questions. Take time to immerse yourself in them:

  • What is important to you and why? And I don’t mean tangible things like houses and cars. What I mean is what my dear friend Laura Lavigne calls Core Essences—the vibrations that you absolutely need to feel alive and well. For example, for me, freedom always comes first. Then there’s adventure and fun, connection, growth, and novelty. When I have those things in my life, I feel pretty happy.

  • What are you curious about? Always pay attention to your curiosity—it is your guiding light. You don’t have to make money with everything you’re curious about. It is not about money; it is about your Life Mission.

  • Your natural aptitudes. What are you naturally good at? You have been given that for a reason. Most likely you will use that in unexpected ways, which is always fun and interesting :).

  • What is your vision for the world? What would you like the world to be like? What would you like life on our planet to be like? And what part would you like to play in building that life?

Go through those questions and you will arrive at your mission.

Part of my mission is to help people remember theirs—and this is why I wrote this.

If you have read this far, you are ready to remember. And I am so excited to feel you reconnecting to your Mission. Welcome home :)

I am popping into your mailbox because I wanted to remind you that you are infinitely worthy. Worthy of love, worthy of joy, worthy of adventure, worthy of compassion, worthy of kindness, worthy of everything you ever wanted to. We all forget about it sometimes but today I remembered, and I wanted to remind you about it. You don’t have to do anything to deserve love. It is your birthright. Also, you don’t have to go anywhere to get it. It’s there right there right next to you. All you need to...

When someone asks, "Do you forgive me?" you don't owe them an answer. Forgiveness is for not for them, it is for you. When they ask you that question, they are looking to feel better, they are looking for pardoning. But forgiveness is not that. What has been done is done, lessons need to be learnt, emotions have to be processed. Forgiveness can't be forced. Enough emotions have to be processed for some healing to happen and for you being ready to say "I am done. I have learnt my lessons, I...

Hi Reader! I want to share something profound with you—something that took me many years to truly understand. You may have heard me talk about Life Purpose before, with all the variations and conclusions I’ve explored and shared. Well, here’s the latest one: You are already living your life’s purpose. Yes—YOU ARE ALREADY LIVING YOUR PURPOSE.I know… wild, right? We came here to experience life on this planet: the contrast, the separation, the polarities. And so, whatever your life looks like...
